Play and the Expressive Arts This workshop runs every July for 5 days, the week following the Summer School to facilitate those who wish to attend a block of training. It provides a unique opportunity, using the creative arts therapies to explore creative and non-verbal ways to engage and relate creatively with clients of all ages. Relationships will improve as you find new ways to facilitate true communication and meaningful contact. Each day we use a different creative, therapeutic approach, with fully qualified practitioners, to journey into your inner world to access, and liberate, your own creative core. We will experience Movement, Art, Drama, Music, Sandplay, and Play Therapy. This course is designed to introduce you to the creative arts in an experiential way. You will leave with a 'tool-kit' of skills and an awareness of the creative arts that will enable you to engage with clients of all ages in new and innovative ways rather than relying on spoken language. Deeper relationships will almost certainly ensue as communication skills become more developed and understanding grows. This will be of particular value to those who work with children and young people, traumatised adults, and clients with special needs. Resistant clients, including disengaged youth, respond well to these media. This is an eclectic, experiential training with a focus on personal development, skills development, and a heightened awareness of the impact of creative approaches. This training is suitable for: Child-care workers, teachers (recognised In-career Development course), family support staff, project workers, social workers, foster carers, day-care and early education staff, therapists, psychologists, and others working with children, families and other vulnerable clients. This is also an ideal course for anyone considering a career in the therapy field. Further information is in the Course Details and Enrolment
form, which you can download by clicking below.
